Donyboy, This was great vid for me since it was only one that the linkages looked like mine. However I have old 6hp Tecumseh on Troy horse 1 rather than hp Tehcumseh. Since the ends with the bends must be twisted or angled to go thru the holes on throttle assembly which is not possible when the other ends are already attached? How would you do it? I could remove the two bolts on the assembly which would give me enough play to attach them.

Therefore, it is the purpose of the float system to store fuel in the carburetor bowl and maintain the fuel at a specified or required level. This float action, controlling needle valve movement, permits fuel to enter or be stopped according to float height. When the engine is cranked or started, fuel is drawn from the gasoline tank by the fuel pump and forced or pumped under pressure to enter the carburetor at the fuel inlet.

The force of the incoming fuel will also assist in moving the needle valve downward. Some carburetors will employ the use of a “pull down clip,” which connects the needle valve to the movable float arm, resulting in an immediate positive opening of the needle valve as the float is lowered. Fuel will then enter the float bowl through the open needle and seat assembly.

Click here for picture. Connect the solid link to the throttle control bracket. Mount the bracket to the carburetor and then mount the carburetor to the engine. Make sure the governor spring does not bind with the solid link. When installed correctly, the governor spring will be under the long governor link.

For example, on Tecumseh TVS, LEV, TVM, TVXL and other similar engines, the governor arm rocks in the counter clockwise direction to close the throttle to idle. To adjust the governor, you would loosen the screw on the bottom of the governor arm and push the governor arm so the throttle is wide open.

Hi have a Tecumseh tvxl and having trouble with carb and govenor linkage connections, hard Ta start and will over rev. And can’t dreamy throttle movement, until it takes off and I have to shut it down due to over rev. Help.

This setup is the same if the engine is on a gokart, pump, generator, pressure washer, etc. The only variation is how the throttle lever pulls on the governor spring.

This specific engine is setup for a pressure washer, where the remove throttle control is behind the engine. On engines with onboard throttle control, the control slider will be located in place of the silver cover, as seen in this picture. Check the blade hub, adapter, crankshaft coupler or associated equipment for loose fit, loose bolts, or crankshaft key or adapter damage. Re-install and re-torque the bolts to the proper torque.

Check the flywheel key and the flywheel and crankshaft keyway for wear or partial shearing. Replace if any damage is evident.

Mar 30,  · I think that the throttle cables and various springs are run improperly. I have found the varius Troy-bilt manuals, and Tecumseh Manuals, but none of them show the positions of the springs, cables, and pulling wires that connect the throttle, the governor, and the carb.

I’ve been trying to renovate my dads old go kart. But it’s been sitting for a couple years now. Unfortunately I have no clue what I am doing I have changed the oil, added some new gas and all I can get out of it is a few seconds of idle, then it dies. And that’s only with engine starter fluid.

I was curious can you buy an after market carb that isn’t all connected to fuel tank for these. I hate these damn Briggs motor with fuel tank carb all one unit.

Then holding the ‘shut off valve’ with the vaccume controller twards the pass side install the portion of the heater hose coming from the cab to the top left nipple on the ‘shut off valve’. Install the portion of the heater hose coming from the engine to the top right nipple and tighten the clamp.

Next cut the heater hose closest to the pass side in the same location as the previous.

Nov 26,  · Tecumseh governor/throttle linkage problems, need some advice. do any of you have any pictures or diagrams of your tecumseh throttle/governor linkage setup? because the manual isn’t detailed enough. Here’s what I’ve documented so far: If the mower was running just fine last Fall, and will not start in the Spring, the first thing to suspect is that the gas has gone bad. If it just keeps running worse and worse until it stops or doesn’t start , it could easily be the air filter.

This is what a ” Fouled Plug ” looks like. Here’s a “quick” cleanup. The seal between the main jet and the carb bowl swells up and cuts off the gas. I replaced it with a small O-ring. You hit something and the motor will not restart.

Ask Question Step New Rear Axle Chain Tensioner. Here’s another update, and this time its again for the rear chain tensioner. I had a lot of issues with the chain jumping off the sprocket for the rear axle. I tried a few things, namely the experiment I mentioned in the previous step involving two roller skate wheels, one on top of the chain, one underneath. That system didn’t work. So I came up with a new tensioner that involves using a chain sprocket idler which is spring loaded.

The old tensioner idler was mounted to a bracket with a slot cut in the side to enable the idler wheel to be moved up and down. This is shown in step 4. So I used the same bracket but instead of having the idle sprocket be stationary, it “floats” up and down in the slot with the help of a sturdy spring that ensures that it keeps constant pressure on the chain.

I accomplished this by using 2 large fender washers on each side of the mounting bolt going through the bracket, then having nylock stop nuts on either side, backed up just enough to allow the mounting bolt to move freely up and down. I welded a bolt to the frame above the idler sprocket so that the tension spring could be attached.
